Ready. Paste JSON, open a file or try the sample.
What A JSON Viewer Online Is For
This JSON viewer online turns a wall of braces into something you can read. Paste your data, and it appears as a tree. Open a branch, close it, search it or edit it.
JSON is how most apps talk to each other. An API sends it, a config file stores it, and a log tool prints it. Yet a raw response is hard to scan. One long line hides everything.
So a viewer helps. It shows the shape first and the detail second. You see that orders holds a list, that each order has a customer, and that one price is missing.
The format is simple, and RFC 8259 spells it out. Even so, small mistakes break it. A stray comma is enough. Therefore this page also finds the exact line of each error.
Reading JSON As A Tree
The tree is the heart of this JSON tree viewer. Each object and list gets a row with a small arrow. Click the arrow, and the branch opens.
Colour helps you scan. Strings use green, numbers use blue, and true, false and null use purple. Keys stand out in bold. A closed branch tells you how many keys or items it holds.
You can also use the keyboard. The arrow keys move, Right opens a branch, and Left closes it. Home and End jump to the first and last row.
Switching To A Table
Some JSON is really a spreadsheet in disguise. A list of products, users or orders has the same keys in every record. A table shows that at a glance.

Press Table and each record becomes a row. Each key becomes a column. Click a heading to sort by it. Click a row, and the inspector below opens that record.
If your JSON is one big object, select the list inside it first. The table follows your selection.
Search That Opens The Right Branches
Big files hide what you need. Type a word in the search box, and every match lights up. The viewer opens each branch on the way, so nothing stays buried.

Choose where to look. You can search keys and values, keys only, or values only. Press Enter to jump to the next match, and Shift with Enter to go back.
The counter beside the box tells you how many matches there are. It stops counting at two thousand, which keeps the page fast.
Editing Without Touching The Text
This is also a JSON editor online. Click a row, and the inspector shows its key, its type and its value. Change what you need and press Apply.

You can rename a key, switch a string to a number, or turn a value into a list. You can add a new key inside an object, duplicate a row, or move it up and down. Delete removes it.
Every change rewrites the text on the left at once. If you slip, press Undo. The history keeps your last hundred steps.
Repairing Almost-JSON
People paste things that look like JSON but are not. A config with comments. A Python dictionary. A reply copied from a chat window with a code fence around it.

Press Repair and the tool fixes the common problems. It removes comments and trailing commas, and it quotes bare keys. It turns single quotes into double quotes, and True and None into true and null.
Then it lists every change it made. Read that list. A repair is a guess, and you should know what it guessed.
Copying A Path In One Click
Select any row and the path appears under the tree. Copy it as a JSONPath, such as $.products[0].price. Or copy it as JavaScript, such as data.products[0].price.
Big Numbers Stay Exact
Many viewers turn every number into a double. Then an ID like 12345678901234567890 silently becomes 12345678901234567000. This one keeps each number exactly as you wrote it. That matters, because the edit then goes back into your text without damage.
Using The JSON Viewer, Step By Step
Four steps take you from raw text to a changed value. After that, search and the table make the rest quick.
- 1
Paste or open your JSON
Type into the box, paste from your clipboard, or open a
.jsonfile. Your tab reads the file. It never leaves your device. - 2
Read it as a tree
The tree draws itself as you type. Open a branch with its arrow, or use the Open levels list to show two, three or four levels at once.
- 3
Search or switch to a table
Search keys and values, or press Table to see a list of records as columns. Click a heading to sort.
- 4
Select a row to copy or edit
Copy its path or its value. Or change the key, the type and the value, then press Apply. The text on the left updates at once.
- 5
Copy or download the result
Format, minify or sort the keys first if you like. Then copy the JSON or save it as a file.
What This JSON Viewer Does Differently
Plenty of viewers show a tree. These are the places where this one goes further.
Tree, table and text, together
The text, the tree and the table are three views of one model. Edit any of them, and the others follow.
Exact error locations
When the JSON has a fault, you get the line, the column and a caret under the problem. Browsers rarely give you that.
Repair that explains itself
The repair button fixes comments, quotes and commas. Then it lists each change, so nothing happens behind your back.
Numbers never change
Long IDs and prices keep every digit. The viewer never turns your data into floating-point guesses.
Built for the keyboard
Arrow keys, Home, End and Enter all work. Every control has a label, so a screen reader can use it too.
Nothing leaves your tab
API responses often hold private data. Because your browser does all the work, none of it reaches this site.
Habits For Working With JSON Safely
A viewer makes JSON easy to read. These habits keep it correct, too.
- Look at the shape before the detail. Open one level first. Check that the top-level keys are what you expect. Then go deeper where you need to.
- Keep a copy before a big edit. Copy the original text somewhere safe. Undo is handy, but a saved file is safer.
- Search for the key, not just the value. A value like 0 matches hundreds of rows. A key like
discountusually matches a handful. - Use the table for lists of records. Sorting a column finds the highest price or the oldest date in two clicks. A tree makes you hunt for it.
- Copy paths instead of typing them. A typo in a path returns nothing, and nothing looks like success. Copy the path from the row you can see.
- Check types after you edit. The string
"42"and the number42are different. Many APIs reject the wrong one. - Sort keys before you compare two files. Key order does not change the meaning. It does change a text comparison. Sorting both files first removes the noise.
- Treat repair as a first draft. Read the list of fixes. If one looks wrong, press Undo and fix that spot by hand.
- Remove secrets before you share a sample. Tokens and emails hide in API responses. Delete them in the tree, then copy the clean text.
- Minify only for the final copy. Keep the indented version while you work. Squash it to one line when you send it.
Common JSON Mistakes This Viewer Catches
Each of these breaks a parser. The viewer names the spot, so the fix takes seconds.
A trailing comma
A comma after the last item is fine in JavaScript. In JSON it is an error. Repair removes it.
Single quotes around text
JSON needs double quotes, always. Single quotes work in Python and JavaScript, so people paste them by habit.
Keys without quotes
Writing
{name: "Ali"}is legal in code. As JSON, the key must be"name".Comments inside the file
JSON has no comment syntax at all. A note in a config file will stop a strict parser.
Duplicate keys
The format allows them, but most readers keep only the last one. The viewer shows a warning, so you can decide.
Python values
True, False and None are not JSON. The words must be lowercase true and false, and None becomes null.
JSON Viewer Questions People Ask
Is this JSON viewer online really free?
Yes. It costs nothing, needs no account and has no limits on use. It runs in your browser, so we have no server cost to pass on.
Does my JSON leave my device?
No. Your browser reads, draws and edits it. Nothing reaches this site, and we keep nothing. Closing the tab clears everything.
How big a file can it open?
Files up to ten megabytes open from disk. Pasted text can be large too. The tree draws only the branches you open, so big files stay quick.
How do the tree and the table differ?
The tree shows any JSON, level by level. The table suits a list of records that share keys. Pick whichever shows your data best.
Can I edit values and keep the rest unchanged?
Yes. Select the row, change the value and press Apply. Only that value changes. The text on the left updates, and the rest stays as it was.
What does the Repair button fix?
It fixes comments, trailing commas, single quotes, unquoted keys, missing commas, Python values and unclosed brackets. It lists every change it made.
Why does it call my JSON invalid if it works in my code?
JavaScript is more forgiving than JSON. Comments, single quotes and trailing commas all run in code but fail as strict JSON. Repair can fix them.
What is a JSONPath?
It is an address for one value inside JSON. For example, <code>$.store.name</code> means the name key inside the store object. Many tools accept it.
Does the viewer change my numbers?
No. Every number stays exactly as you wrote it. Long IDs keep all their digits, which many other viewers cannot promise.
Can I view JSON from a file or a link?
You can open a file with the Open a file button. A link would mean fetching another site, which a browser page cannot do safely. Paste the response text instead.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The two panels stack, the tree scrolls, and the buttons are large enough to tap. For long editing, a keyboard is still easier.
