What A Text Cleaner Does For You
Text from the web, from a PDF or from an email is rarely clean. It has double spaces, blank lines, odd line breaks and stray symbols. So you spend time fixing it by hand.
This text cleaner does that work in one box. First, paste your text. Then tick the clean ups you want. The result appears as you type, and you copy it with one click.
Also, it has twelve clean ups. Then you can mix them, and they run in a fixed order, so the result is the same every time.
Everything runs in your browser. So your text never leaves your device. That matters, because the text you clean may hold names, emails and private notes.
Remove Extra Spaces And Empty Lines
First, these are the most common jobs. The tool trims the spaces at the start and end of each line. It also collapses runs of spaces and tabs into one space.
Then it can remove empty lines, so a text with big gaps becomes tight. Also, if you tick duplicate lines, repeated lines drop out and only the first copy stays.
For more detail, see: Unicode normalization forms.
Remove Line Breaks
Text copied from a PDF often has a line break at the end of every line. That breaks a sentence into pieces. So tick Remove line breaks, and the lines join into one.

Then you choose what goes between the joined lines. A space gives you normal prose. A comma and a space turns a list into one line. Nothing at all glues the pieces together.
Remove Accents
Accents are useful in a language, but they can break a filename, a URL or a search. So the accent option turns café into cafe and naïve into naive.

First, it works by splitting each letter from its mark and dropping the mark. So the base letter stays, and the rest of your text does not change.
Remove Punctuation, Digits And Emoji
Sometimes you want only words. Then the punctuation option removes marks and symbols but keeps currency signs, so prices stay readable. The digit option removes numbers, and the emoji option removes pictures and symbols.
Use them with care. First, removing punctuation joins words that a dash or a slash once split. Also, removing digits cannot be undone, so keep a copy of your original.
Remove And Add Line Numbers
Code listings and notes often start each line with a number. So the tool removes forms such as 1. or 2) or 3: at the start of a line. In the other direction, it can number every line for you.
Then you can use both together. Remove the old numbers first, and the new ones then start again at one.
Remove Lines That Contain A Word
First, type a word or a phrase, and every line that holds it disappears. That helps with logs, exports and lists. For example, you can drop every line that says unsubscribe.
By default the match ignores case. Tick Match the case if you need an exact match.
Clean Text From A PDF
A PDF copy brings many problems at once. Each line ends with a break, words split with a hyphen, and spaces pile up. First, tick Trim, Collapse spaces and Remove line breaks.
Then read the result. If the text has paragraphs, run it again without the join option, and use the empty line as the paragraph mark. So you keep the structure and lose the noise.
Clean A Copied Web Page
Text from a web page often brings tabs, non breaking spaces and blank lines. The tool treats tabs and non breaking spaces as spaces, so one pass fixes them.
Also, you can drop menu lines. Type a word such as Share or Cookie in the line filter, and every line with it goes away.
Prepare A List For Import
Lists need to be tidy before you import them. Trim each line, remove empty lines and remove duplicate lines. Then pick Remove line breaks with a comma and a space, and you have one line to paste.
So an email list, a keyword list or a set of tags becomes ready in seconds.
Use The Result Again
First, press Use as input, and the cleaned text moves into the left box. Then you can run a second pass with other options. So hard jobs take two or three short steps.
Safe By Design
First, the tool works on plain text in your browser. It sends nothing, and it stores nothing. So your text stays yours.

Habits For Cleaning Text Safely
A few habits keep your text intact.
- Keep the original. Save a copy before you clean. Some clean ups cannot be undone.
- Start with the basics. Trim, collapse spaces and remove empty lines fix most problems.
- Clean in small steps. Tick one or two options, look at the result, then add more.
- Mind the order. Remove line numbers before you add new ones.
- Be careful with digits. Removing digits also removes prices, years and phone numbers.
- Be careful with punctuation. Removing it can glue words together.
- Use the right join. A space for prose, a comma for lists.
- Check accents in names. Removing accents can change how a name reads.
- Test with a sample. Try a few lines before you clean a long file.
- Look at the line count. The stats show how many lines and characters changed.
- Mind private text. Remove names and emails before you share a result.
